I.T. “Fix-it” Day

There will be an I.T. (computers) “Fix-it” Day this Sunday, October 16th, from 12pm to 3pm in the school. We are looking for volunteers to help! If you think you could assist with tasks such as sorting through computer equipment and deciding how it could be used, rebuilding computers, putting libre office on computers and adding computers to the network, then please come along!

How Schools Get Built – The Cork ET Schools Cluster Meeting

The ET Cork Schools Cluster Meeting will take place in Carrigaline ETNS on Wednesday, October 19th 2011 at 7.30 p.m.

Niall Wall, Regional Development Officer with Educate Together, will speak about the steps involved in the building process, along with a brief summary regarding the formation of Boards of Management.

Refreshments will be served and people are invited to meet and chat with people from other ET schools in the Cork area.

All are welcome! We look forward to seeing you there!

School Building Planning Application Submitted!

There was some significant progress this week with regards to a new school building for Carrigaline Educate Together National School.

The Department of Education have submitted a planning application number 116203 for a new 16 classroom school to be built in Kilnaglery on the south side of Carrigaline town just off the Crosshaven road.

The plans can be viewed at the Cork County Council head offices on the Lee Road in Cork City.

We are of course very excited to have reached this point and are looking forward to the completion of the planning process and the sanction for building to start!

Educate Together AGM

The Annual General Meeting of Educate Together will take place in Gorey Educate Together N.S., Kilnahue Lane, Carnew Road, Gorey Co. Wexford on Saturday, May 28th 2011.  It will commence at 09:30 and finish at 16:00.  All are welcome!!!  If you wish to find out more, call to see Christine.

The next cluster meeting of the Educate Together schools in Cork will take place in Gaelscoil an Ghoirt Álainn on Wednesday next May 11th at 7:30pm.
 
Gaelscoil an Ghoirt Álainn is situated on the grounds of Brian Dillon’s GAA club, Murmont Avenue, also known as the Tank Field. You can access Murmont Avenue from Mayfield Library on The Old Youghal Road, from Iona Park or from St. Christopher’s Drive.

Molly O’Dowd from Educate Together head office will be facilitating the meeting which will discuss ethos within an Educate Together school. The format of the meeting will include group discussion and also working in small groups.

Interested in an Educate Together Secondary School for your child? No matter how young your children are, now is the time to start working towards giving them the choice of continuing within the Educate Together ethos at second level. Come to a parent information evening at CETNS – 8pm, Wednesday 4th May. Meet Niall Wall, Regional Development Officer for Cork, and find out what an Educate Together Secondary School would offer your child and what we can do to open one right here in Cork.

The Parent Association is delighted to announce our spring fundraiser– a raffle with fantastic health & fitness prizes donated by parents and friends of CETNS.

Spring Fitness Raffle Prizes:

1st: Cork Jersey, framed and signed by the 2010 Sam McGuire Cup winning team

2nd: George Foreman Outdoor Grill worth €100

3rd: 6 wks Golden Glow Yoga Course worth €60

4th: Hamper from Barry Collins’ SuperValu worth €50

5th & 6th: ½hr Sports Massage Sessions worth €35 each

7th& 8th: Bike Services from Rothar worth €25 each

9th: Voucher for The Pig’s Back, Douglas worth €20

The draw will be held on Saturday May 14th at the school as part of our Family Eurovision Evening. There will be popcorn, spot prizes and lots of fun so come out and join us for an enjoyable evening together!

Lines cost €2 – every family will get a sheet of 20 lines, but more sheets are available in the school office so please take as many as you can sell. If you know of a shop that will sell lines for us, please let us know. We will also be selling lines in SuperValu on May 10th & 11th. Please sign up to give an hour or two – it really helps!

Proceeds from the raffle will go towards curriculum resources for science, art, sport, IT and more. Thanks to all who donated prizes and all parents for selling lines – All our children will benefit from your generosity!
