CARRIGALINE EDUCATE TOGETHER NATIONAL SCHOOL – CETNS
Educate Together schools are mainstream national schools, operating according to the Rules for National schools as determined by the Dept. of Education & Science. There are currently 58 Educate Together schools in Ireland- four of which are located in Cork. IN 2008 the Department of Education gave recognition to 12 new Educate Together schools including Carrigaline.

HOW DO THESE SCHOOL DIFFER FROM OTHER NATIONAL SCHOOLS?
Educate Together schools differ in ethos from many other national schools in that they are:
Multi Denominational
Co-educational
Child centered
Democratically managed
Multi-denominational i.e. all children having equal rights of access to the school, and children of all social, cultural and religious backgrounds being equally respected,
Co-educational and committed to encouraging all children to explore their full range of abilities and opportunities,
Child centred in their approach to education,
Democratically run with active participation by parents in the daily life of the school, whilst positively affirming professional role of the teachers

THE BOARD OF MANAGEMENT
All national schools are managed by a Board of Management. This body, which is a legal entity has the responsbility for the day to day management of the school. There is an agreed structure of 8 people for all national schools in Ireland.
Many schools have sub comittees of the Board of Management, which may focus on specific areas like Premises, Publicity/Fundraising or Implementation of Ethos.
