We’re open for business…

…that is, the business of helping each child in this school become the best he or she can be!It was all smiles on opening day at Carrigaline Educate Together National School (well, there may have been a few tears!). The sun was shining and there was a buzz about the place as parents and children filed in to begin the new school year. Photographers were snapping pictures, teachers meeting their little students and parents chatting with one another, comparing notes on their feelings regarding their children’s big day.
Our teachers, Mel Thornton and Christine Donnery were as excited as the children. The anticipation of embarking on a new challenge and their obvious love of children was written all over their faces. They clearly showed their joy at having the privilege of working with this great bunch of kids.
Members of the school’s start-up group, most of whom are parents, were hovering around taking in the atmosphere and seeing for the first time the results of years of work. This day was the first day of what those involved with the school see as the start of a dynamic relationship between all those in the school community.
We also believe a school can be a powerhouse, the abundant energy of the young spreading out to touch all parts of the local community and beyond. We see our school in this way and will do our utmost to take it to this level.A big “thank you” to all those who have helped get us to where we are today. And to all the children in this school, we hope you truly enjoy yourselves and become whatever you most want to be in your lives.
