Three Sites Identified for New Educate Together National School

Written by admin in General News, Get Involved | No Comments »

The Carrigaline Educate Together Association have identified three sites for the temporary housing of the proposed new primary school due to open in September 2008. The decision to sanction or not give sanction for the school is to be announced by the Department of Education and Science by mid-April.

The group is hopeful of a positive outcome due to the urgent need for a school in Carrigaline and the great level of interest shown by local community.

Pre-enrolment officer for the group, Dave O’Mahony has reported a huge response to the enrolment drive. “The government requirements for numbers of children pre-enrolled for 2008 have been met and numbers for the next few years are very strong. On behalf of the group, I’d like to thank all the parents who have pre-enrolled their children in spite of the uncertainties surrounding the project, said Dave.” If you wish to pre-enrol your child, please contact the group or download a form from their website.

The group are planning a family fun day in early May to help raise funds for the project, but mainly to show the local community what they’re all about. Details to follow at a later date.

People are needed to help throughout all stages of the project, so please get in touch if you’re willing to help in any way. If you wish to get “stuck-in” in the setting up of the new school with the small (but active) core group of parents, please join in. Meetings are held weekly on Thursdays at 8:30 in Billy Tague’s chiropractic office on Main Street, above McNamee’s Auctioneers.

Time To Get Involved!

Written by admin in Get Involved | No Comments »

As a volunteer based start-up group (with help from Educate Together) we’re dependent on people getting involved and giving of their time and skills to see a school established.

We’ve been receiving a number of offers of help from people through the contact form on this site.   As a result we’ve added a ‘Get Involved’ page to the site.  It’s a work in progress, but at the moment contains a form that you can fill in and submit indicating ways in which you’d like to be involved.  The list isn’t exhaustive and leaves room for your own suggestions.
